The Opportunity

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accountant will primarily be responsible for maintaining an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all activities. This position will act as the first line contact with vendors or clients regarding billing problems. This role will also ensure that all month-end financial duties and resulting financial reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Your Impact

• Collect, obtain approval and data entry of all vendor invoices
• Generate cheque runs and electronic funds transfers
• Print and acquire signatures on all accounts payable cheques
• Electronic filing for invoices and supporting documentation
• Respond to all vendor inquiries in a timely manner
• Process incoming payments, employee expense reports and reconcile credit card statements
• Facilitate payment of invoices by sending customer statements and contacting customers
• Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all activities
• Act as the first line contact with vendors or clients regarding billing problems
• Other general accounting duties, as assigned

Your Experience, Skills & Education

• Diploma/Degree in Accounting with 3+ years progressive experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
• Understanding of inter-company accounting and related transactions
• Ability to read, understand, and calculate financial figures such as discounts, interest rates, proportions, percentages, and taxes
• Basic knowledge of accounting systems, and internal controls
• Meticulous with numbers
• Accountability and initiative
• Attention to Detail
• Strong organizational, communication and time management skills
• Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment as well as independently
