ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Chartered Professional Accountant of Canada (CPA), you will report directly to the Vice President, Finance & HR. You will support all facets of our business, including operations, HR, marketing, tech development, and growth initiatives. Your role will be crucial in internal and external reporting, ensuring accurate accounting for financial reporting and audits.

What You Will Do :

Collaborate closely with our VP Finance & HR, overseeing full cycle accounting workflows including A/P, A/R, Cash Management, Reporting, Forecasting, Budgeting, Audits, and Tax Reconciliations, including:

  • Processing, reconciling, and verifying Accounts Payable and Receivable transactions.
  • Reviewing and preparing journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
  • Generating and supporting accurate weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports, managing our accounting platform and integrations.
  • Ensuring compliance with ASPE principles for financial reporting.
  • Supporting budgeting and forecasting with financial data and analysis.
  • Managing and reconciling intercompany transactions and accounts.
  • Ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
  • Reviewing employee expense submissions.
  • Coordinating and supporting external audits.
  • Assisting in developing and implementing new procedures and features to automate finance workflows, including participation in new tech builds and Bill-Pay modules.
  • Performing bank reconciliations and bank reporting activities accurately and timely.
  • Meeting with senior leadership and operational stakeholders to review financials and identify improvement areas.

What You Bring :

  • CPA or CA designation.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in private enterprise.
  • Proficiency in Office 365, especially advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong understanding of accounting software; experience with QuickBooks Online is an asset.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective communication skills to articulate complex financial insights.
  • Experience with 5-4-4 reporting periods and in the transportation industry is an asset.
  • Fluency in English, both oral and written.
