A local business group in British Columbia is seeking an Accountant to manage financial reporting and support economic development projects. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years' experience, preferably in the construction industry, and will be responsible for maintaining accounts, budget analysis, and financial planning. Reporting to: Finance Manager
Summary of Duties:
Under the supervision of the Finance Manager and Chief Financial Officer, the Accountant provides support with accounting and financial reporting for the Li'wat Construction Enterprises as well as other departments of the Lil'wat Business Group.
Key Deliverables and Expectations:
• Maintain and reconcile Accounts Receivable.
• Maintain the Accounts Payable for Lil'wat Business Group.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations.
• Coordinate quarterly inventory counts and prepare account entries.
• Coordinate amortization and accounting for all Lil'wat Business Group assets.
• Analyze project successes and failures.
• Assist in providing variance analysis, actual vs. budgeted revenues, and expenditures.
• Monitor and report on key business performance indicators, providing solutions where applicable.
• Perform analysis on product gross margins, pricing, and promotions.
• Support Lil'wat Business Group's promotional marketing efforts.
• Assist in planning Lil'wat Business Group projects and monitoring their progress.
• Ensure Lil'wat Business Group projects adhere to designed frameworks.
• Filing of Lil'wat Business Group correspondence, documents and reports.
• Audit prep and finalize reports.
• Perform other related duties as requested.
Experience and Attributes:
• 3-5 years experience working in an economic development or corporate environment. Preference for experience in the Construction industry.
• Completion of Post Secondary Schooling as a CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) or CGA (Chartered General Accountant) or CMA (Chartered Management Accountant) would be preferred.
• Courses in finance or bookkeeping certification are an asset.
• Knowledge of SAGE or similar accounting software is preferred.
• A solid understanding of financial and budgetary principles.
• Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as an integral member of various teams.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain confidentiality.
• Motivated self-starter and with strong interpersonal skills.
• Highly professional in all aspects of business, presentation and interaction with all stakeholders, clients, and Members.
