Job Description

If you are a sales professional, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! The Account Manager - Northern Alberta is an excellent opportunity to grow with Emerson Discrete Automation – Appleton Group Canada . Based in our Western Region , you will be responsible for sales in the Northern Alberta territory. Appleton is a leading manufacturer of Electrical apparatus and LED lighting products for Industrial and Hazardous locations. Reporting to the Western Regional Sales Manager, your goal will be to grow market share by promoting Appleton products to major end users, electrical contractors, and through established distribution channels. You will build long-term relationships with key customers, electrical engineering firms, OEMs, industrial contractors, and electrical distributors in Northern Alberta.

In this role, your responsibilities will include :

  • Managing all accounts in your territory, maintaining communication with distribution, end users, OEMs, electrical contractors, and plant employees to foster long-term relationships.
  • Driving Canadian sales growth via sales agents and distribution channels, developing demand at major accounts, and establishing product specifications for projects, retrofits, MRO, and temporary power.
  • Targeting engineering firms and international accounts to promote Appleton products, ensuring global certifications are met for export opportunities.
  • Implementing sales and marketing programs, developing strategic business plans, and forecasting for existing and new products.
  • Utilizing customer service support and management resources to ensure success, verifying pricing accuracy, and working within Emerson's pricing policies and distributor management protocols.
  • Serving as a technical field representative, handling claims and adjustments, and providing product training to sales teams, engineering firms, distributors, OEMs, and end users.

Who you are : You understand customer needs, deliver solutions, and build effective relationships. You are proactive in identifying opportunities, handling tough issues with a positive attitude, and exceeding goals. You negotiate skillfully and find solutions that satisfy multiple stakeholders.

Requirements for this role include :

  • Post-secondary technical education in Electrical or proven sales experience in related fields.
  • At least 2 years of experience selling electrical products, understanding IEC standards, and global certifications.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% within the territory and to head office, including overnight stays and quarterly meetings.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada (sponsorship not provided).
  • Preferred qualifications :

  • Electrical Engineer, Technologist, or equivalent education in Business, Marketing, or Sales.
  • Technical electrical background, CET or Journeyman Electrician certification preferred.
  • Experience in industrial electrical product sales and digital literacy in Microsoft Office.
