Job description

As a Business Account Manager, you have a significant impact on the organization by promoting services and maintaining business relationships with members and clients. You represent and negotiate on behalf of Desjardins, entering the organization into strategic agreements with clients. Your role involves balancing portfolio profitability with client and partner satisfaction.

You maintain personal business relationships with strategic and important clients—primarily businesses, associations, and groups—to ensure they maximize the benefits of their products and services and remain fully satisfied. You drive results by helping your unit achieve its sales and business development objectives. You are responsible for managing prestige accounts with substantial development potential for your sector or the organization.

You work with clients who have highly complex and diverse needs, requiring effective communication and a thorough understanding of their expressed needs. Your work and initiatives demand extensive knowledge of the organization and your line of business. You lead, influence, and serve as an expert advisor to clients and practitioners. You have considerable discretion and many opportunities to establish and negotiate product and service terms. Interpersonal savvy is essential.

Specific responsibilities include:

  1. Maintaining lasting, personal business relationships with important clients to promote services.
  2. Managing accounts by serving as the link between clients and the organization, ensuring clients have the products and services they need, are using them correctly, and are satisfied.
  3. Recommending strategies and solutions to meet targets, such as risk management, portfolio profitability, and improved business relationships.
  4. Identifying and analyzing member/client needs; developing custom solutions; preparing integrated service offers that balance satisfaction, profitability, and risk; and negotiating terms.
  5. Monitoring for business opportunities that could provide a competitive edge.
  6. Participating in public relations activities and maintaining a presence in the business community.
