Job Description
The National Accounts, Managing Account Executive is responsible for a portfolio of Group Benefits' clients wherein they convert client needs and issues into opportunities to introduce solutions. Your ability to negotiate, collaborate and work in partnership with your client team and other internal stakeholders to deliver the best solutions to meet client needs will allow for the solutions brought forth to actually help our clients achieve their business, employment and financial goals. The work of the Account Executive aligns closely with our purpose at Sun Life, that is, they take an active role in helping our Clients achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives. The current Account Executive position will manage a $150 million block of medium and large group benefits clients with varying complexity.
What will you do :
Foster and maintain excellent client and consultant relationships
Grow the portfolio on a profitable basis and provide overall client support for the organization, analyze, present and negotiate annual renewal actions
Understand the client’s changing needs, provide benefits advice and keep customers informed of changes that impact benefit plans and Sun Life's value proposition, products and services
Provide sound financial management and facilitate the addition of products and services to existing clients that aligns with their goals and needs
Pro-actively manage projects, host and present to clients on a regular and frequent basis to establish strong relationships
Provide resolution to issues presented by internal stake holders, clients and consultants with respect to the block of business being managed
What do you need to succeed :
10+ years experience in Group Benefits in a similar role
Knowledge of the group benefits industry including concepts, both generic and particular to Sun Life
Knowledge of group insurance financial management and technical arrangements of plan funding and design (insured, refund, ASO, pooling)
Client relationship management skills and principles, active listening, pro active inquiry and anticipation of broader needs
Understanding of underwriting processes and profit drivers for group benefits
Knowledge of benefit management processes, systems, guidelines, capabilities, standards and practices
Analytical and problem solving skills
Communication skills both internally and externally
Ability to manage a flexible work schedule
Presentation skills and superior organizational skills for managing large client portfolio
Completed and Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) is an asset
Unique requirements :
Valid driver's license and ongoing access to a vehicle
