Job summary

Dentsu Creative in Toronto is seeking an Account Director to lead integrated marketing and communications programs for a major national client in a dynamic environment. You will serve as the primary day-to-day lead on an integrated account and manage budgets and senior relationships.

You will coach and mentor teams, drive cross‑functional collaboration, and ensure campaigns launch smoothly with clear strategic direction and effective resource use.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in administration, communications, marketing, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in a similar function with people leadership.
  • Experience in Financial Services is an asset.
  • Experience in automotive or similar complex categories is an asset.
  • Strong project management skills with budgets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead with independence and communicate with senior-level clients.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous situations with clarity and direction.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain strong client relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

As an Account Director at dentsu Creative, you will lead integrated marketing and communications programs for a major national client within a highly dynamic and complex business environment.

You serve as the primary day‑to‑day lead on an integrated account and a key point of connection for clients. This role carries significant financial accountability and requires a commitment to building, maintaining, and growing strong mid‑and senior‑level client relationships.

You are dedicated to coaching, mentoring, and developing others. You actively support the professional growth of your team, recognizing the impact that an inclusive, empowered, and well-supported team has on individual success and overall agency performance.

Above all, you take ownership for ensuring programs launch smoothly, accurately, and efficiently. You bring a thoughtful, creative approach to managing assignments and make effective use of resources across and beyond the agency.

Responsibilities
Managing the Business
  • Lead campaign development and go-to-market execution across multiple lines of business and stakeholder groups —from planning through production—to meet deadlines and deliverables.
  • Manage integrated marketing initiatives spanning brand, retail, CRM, digital, and social programs.
  • Navigate complex approval processes and multiple stakeholder groups while maintaining project momentum.
  • Lead multiple client accounts with excellence,
  • Leverage the breadth of skills and capabilities across the agency to develop meaningful and effective solutions to client needs.
  • Listen actively to clients and offer thoughtful, informed counsel and strategic direction in the moment.
  • Present concepts, strategies, and plans with clarity and confidence to a variety of audiences.
  • Ensure all written materials and presentations clearly communicate strategic intent and recommendations.
  • Share strategy and direction across internal teams to ensure alignment and understanding.
  • Apply industry knowledge to bring fresh perspectives to both client and agency business opportunities.
  • Lead internal briefings outlining project specifics, business objectives, client strategy, requirements, budgets, and timelines.
  • Provide input on media and strategic reports.
  • Partner with analytics teams to identify opportunities for testing, measurement, and optimization.
  • Build an understanding of how and when to guide clients toward embracing new ideas.
Relationship Management
  • Build, strengthen, and sustain trusted relationships with clients and internal teams at all levels, including senior stakeholders.
Team Leadership
  • Lead integrated, motivated teams that work collaboratively toward client objectives, ensuring appropriate skills and resources are in place.
  • Conduct performance development reviews, creating meaningful development plans and offering ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Build and support cross‑functional teams that anticipate client needs and deliver effective, inclusive solutions.
Financial Management
  • Ensure that processes and team structures are in place to support accurate, transparent financial reporting and management.
Qualifications
  • Post‑secondary education in administration, communications, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in a similar function (people leadership and advertising agency experience considered an asset).
  • Experience in Financial Services is an asset.
  • Experience in automotive, or similarly complex categories like retail, telecommunications, or financial services, is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with large or complex client organizations.
  • Knowledge of production processes across broadcast, print, and digital, including email development.
  • Strong project management skills, with demonstrated success managing multiple client accounts and budgets.
  • Process‑oriented and detail‑focused.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain strong client and partner relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to lead projects with independence, collaborate effectively, and communicate with senior‑level clients.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous situations, with the ability to provide clarity and guide teams toward shared goals.
