Job description

Term of Appt: August - October, 2025

Start date: August 23, 2025

Reporting to: Associate Dean of Health Sciences & Human Services


Salary:

$45.60 - $56.75/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits on regular earnings, 6% vacation and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay day.

Description:

NLC's Practical Nursing Program requires temporary, part-time instructor(s) to deliver the following courses:

APNP 135: Integrated Nursing Practice -Theory/Lab

Dates: August 23 - Oct 10, 2025

Total Contract Hours: 180

APNP 135: Integrated Nursing Practice - Lab B

Dates: September 11 - Oct 10, 2025

Total Contract Hours: 75

This course emphasizes the art and science of nursing, focusing on the development of nursing care and assessment. Learners will apply nursing knowledge through the practice of clinical decision making, nursing assessments, and nursing interventions aimed at the promotion of health, independence, and comfort. Classroom, laboratory, simulation, and other practice experiences will assist learners to integrate theory from other Access courses to provide sage, competent, and ethical nursing care with clients.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Completion of an accredited Diploma in Practical Nursing or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or another relevant undergraduate degree or professional qualification may be considered.
  • Current practicing license as an LPN, RPN, RN or NP with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives with no limits or conditions or another relevant professional license.
  • Minimum two years (full-time equivalent) of recent Canadian nursing experience.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member.
  • Committed to student motivation and achievement; and
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Preferred:

  • Completed course work in Indigenous cultural safety and humility.
  • Teaching experience as a nurse or health care professional; and/or
  • A credential in adult education, such as the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program.
