Within the Finance Department, the Access and Privacy Branch is looking for an Access Analyst. The Access and Privacy Branch processes requests for access to information and supports departments in fulfilling their legislative requirements under The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
  • Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
  • Must be able to work overtime and on weekends as required.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Post-secondary education in social sciences, politics / political sciences, public administration, or a related field. A combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Experience working with The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, or other similar access to information legislation and responding to access requests.
  • Experience managing or collaborating on research projects, preparing analysis and presenting findings.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to negotiate, foster collaboration and build consensus.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with ability to present to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to write clear and concise correspondence, policy, process documents and emails to various levels of staff members, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop, foster, and maintain respectful relationships with both internal and external parties.
  • Strong political acumen, with the ability to work with sensitive information in a confidential manner and provide strategic advice on complex topics and sensitive issues
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions in a dynamic environment.

Desired:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in French.

Duties:

The Access Analyst is responsible for analysis of access related matters throughout government. This analysis assesses both government and agencies’ practices concerning access to information against the requirements of The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and other applicable laws, facilitating effective management of access related risks.

They also work closely with the Practice and Project Lead, Access and Privacy, of the Strategy and Governance Branch, to inform whole-of-government policy development and to cultivate a culture of transparency throughout government.
