Job Purpose

The Academy Coordinator will be responsible for successfully implementing a pilot project designed to enrich students' physical education & wellness experiences in three distinct streams: Hockey, Multisport, and Arts. Working closely with school administration, teachers, parents, and external stakeholders, they will oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of activities within each stream to ensure the holistic development of participating students.

Education, Experience And Requirements

  • Project Management: Ability to plan, organize, and execute complex projects, including setting goals, establishing timelines, and managing resources effectively.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Strong interpersonal skills and positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and external partners to foster collaboration and support project objectives.
  • Curriculum Alignment: Understanding educational principles and curriculum frameworks to ensure project activities align with learning objectives and standards.
  • Stream Development: Creativity and innovation in planning and coordinating engaging activities tailored to hockey’s specific focus areas.
  • Instructional Leadership: Experience collaborating with and supervising instructors and facilitators to deliver high-quality programming and support student development.
  • Student Support: Empathy and patience in providing guidance, encouragement, and support to students as they explore their interests, develop skills, and overcome challenges.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Proficiency in designing assessment tools, collecting data, and analyzing results to measure student progress, evaluate program effectiveness, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Communication Skills: Clear and compelling written and verbal communication skills to convey information, provide feedback, and facilitate collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility and resilience to adapt to changing circumstances, address unforeseen challenges, and adjust program activities to meet the evolving needs of students and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to Equity and Inclusion: Dedication to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment that honors protocols and ensures equitable access to opportunities for all students.
  • Safety and First Aid: Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures to ensure students’ well-being and physical safety in sports and recreational activities, including maintaining first aid and CPR certification.
  • Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in using technology tools and platforms for communication, scheduling, and data management, such as email, Microsoft Office, and digital collaboration tools.
  • Intercultural Skills: Skilled in negotiating and facilitating cultural differences and adapting approaches to different intercultural communication and learning styles.
  • Humor and Positivity: Understands humor and uses it to communicate and build relationships; remains positive and constructive when faced with challenges or adversity.
  • Responsibility and Trustworthiness: Demonstrates responsibility, reliability, and trustworthiness.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a Program Coordinator, Manager, or Administrator for a minimum of 5 years is an asset; in-depth knowledge of program management, policies, and development procedures; hands-on experience in budgeting, bookkeeping, and reporting; excellent organizational and time-management skills; outstanding communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Education: Graduate degree in education or a similar relevant field is an asset; Alberta Education Certified Teacher preferred; ceremonial and cultural knowledge is an asset; understanding and speaking nehiyawewin is an asset.

Working Conditions

Will be required to work at either of the Enoch Cree Nation Kitaskinaw Education Authority Buildings for an 8-hour shift in accordance with the ECN Human Resource Policy & Procedure Manual – Section C. May be required to work after hours and during weekends.
