Job description

The Department of Surgery (www.surgery.queensu.ca) at Queen’s University is seeking an Academic Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery for a geographically full-time position. The candidate will have completed a minimum of one year of clinical fellowship training at the commencement of their appointment. Additional fellowship training or an advanced degree would also be advantageous. The successful candidate will be expected to have comprehensive clinical expertise in the operative and non-operative management of foot and ankle disorders. The preferred candidate must have an excellent record of success working in a multi-disciplinary clinical environment. They must demonstrate strong potential for outstanding educational contributions and significant academic and scholarly research in line with the mission of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery. Evidence of current involvement and commitment to research through the submission of a research dossier outlining an academic plan and career goals is requested. Applicants will also be involved in undergraduate and post-graduate medical education. Submission of an educational dossier is encouraged.

Qualified applicants will hold an MD degree (or equivalent), have completed postgraduate / fellowship qualifications prior to appointment, and have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Preference will be given to candidates with an advanced degree.

The successful candidate will be a full-time member of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery and participate in the orthopaedic surgery on-call schedule at Kingston Health Sciences Centre. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the teaching, supervision, and mentorship of undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate students and fellows.
