Job Summary

A Brief Overview

Reporting to the Manager, First Year, The Academic Resource Coordinator supports students, parents, faculty, and staff by providing in-person, phone, and email assistance on academic regulations, policies, and procedures. As a key point of contact, the coordinator offers guidance on academic advising, appeals, considerations, and registration processes, ensuring accurate information is shared and inquiries are addressed or escalated as needed.

This role is essential in guiding students and departments through academic appeals, requiring a solid understanding of university policies to offer clear advice on procedures and documentation. The coordinator collaborates with senior academic staff on complex cases and continually assesses committee processes to recommend improvements.

The Academic Resource Coordinator manages supplemental exam eligibility and scheduling, ensuring effective communication with students and departments about exam details, accommodations, and fees. Close coordination with the Registrar's Office and faculty ensures smooth exam administration and adherence to deadlines.

This position acts as a resource for student support within their appropriate program. This position provides various program guidance and refers students to appropriate agencies for support. This position also prepares and distributes external communications including newsletters, website updates and monitoring and/or engaging on social media accounts, and attends recruitment events.

The schedule for this position requires the incumbent to work variable hours, including regular attendance at early morning meetings.

  • Provides guidance and refers students to appropriate agencies for support.
  • Prepares and distributes external communications including newsletters, website updates and monitoring and/or engaging on social media accounts.
  • Attends recruitment events.
  • Assists with the annual registration process.
  • Responds to transfer student inquiries.
  • Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.

Required Education

  • Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent.

Required Experience

  • More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
    • Experience working at a post-secondary education institution considered an asset.
    • Experience advising students considered an asset.
    • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies, standards and/or guidelines considered an asset.
Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
