Le Centre Paul-André Crépeau de droit privé et comparé is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Associate or Assistant Professor responsible for the private law dictionaries and bilingual glossaries project during the maternity leave of the current holder. This is a management position exercised in consultation with the Centre's management. It is a full-time position, but a reduced schedule can be arranged.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Research activities
  • Research in private and comparative law.
  • Training and supervising research assistants and professional researchers.
  • Drafting and revising dictionary entries based on research findings.
  • Managing the dictionary project (tracking progress, archiving work, updating documents such as network tracking, indexes, term lists, minutes).
  • Overseeing the update of the online dictionary application and supervising the publication of definitions on the Centre's online dictionary.
  • Participating in meetings with the dictionary committee: planning, presenting, facilitating, taking minutes, and planning subsequent work.

Other duties include:

  • Occasional support for organizing academic events at the Centre.
  • Preparation of grant applications and interim and final reports related to the dictionary project.
  • Various administrative tasks (excluding accounting): recruiting research assistants and professional researchers, monitoring work hours, internal and external communications, weekly meetings with the management committee.

Qualifications required:

  • Master's degree in law.
  • Excellent command of French and English.
  • Interest in legal research.
  • Membership in the Chambre des notaires du Québec (an asset).
