Job summary

NAIT is hiring for a temporary position in Academic Advising and Career Services, responsible for supporting frontline services and administrative duties. The role contributes to student growth by facilitating access to resources, managing appointments, and providing exceptional customer support. Please Note : This is a temporary position ending on or before August 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Academic Advising and Career Services, this position will play a crucial role in supporting the smooth operations of the Academic Advising and Career Services team. This includes being responsible for the flow of appointments at the front desk, providing exceptional customer service, and supporting activities related to Academic Advising and Career Services. In this role you will directly contribute to the growth and success of students as they navigate their academic and professional journey

Key Responsibilities :

Provide front line service for the Academic Advising and Career Services department – first point of contact for all visitors to the office.

Provide administrative support to members of the Academic Advising and Career Services team.

Assist with the coordination of department events.

Review and approve job postings on Career Connect platform.

Coordinate updates of the department’s website.

Coordinate the purchase of office supplies for the department.

Support tasks including scheduling appointments, calendar maintenance, letter writing, mail, data processing, social media updates, email monitoring, etc.

Assist with creation of Career Services Newsletter.

Skills & Abilities :

Knowledge of customer service methods and techniques.

Verbal and written communication skills.

Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, alumni, employers, and colleagues.

Ability to time-manage and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.

Familiarity with office software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).

Ability to learn and use new technologies related to Academic Advising & Career Services (e.g. Symplicity).

Qualifications :

Completion of Grade 12.

Post secondary degree or certificate would be considered an asset.

Related experience.

Equivalencies may be considered.

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

Remuneration : $40,123.20 - $51,603.24 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Administrative Support III).

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
