A leading educational institution in Canada is seeking a Sessional Instructor for the ACAD 100 course to be taught online in the Winter Term of 2026. The ideal candidate should possess a PhD or Master’s degree and have teaching experience at the post-secondary level. Responsibilities include delivering course material, providing feedback to students, and participating in team discussions. This role prioritizes inclusive teaching practices and welcomes applications from diverse backgrounds.
The University of Regina is seeking a Sessional Instructor for the ACAD 100 course, Academic Discourse: Writing, Research, and Learning Strategies, to be delivered online for the 2026 Winter Term.
The course provides first-year students with tools for successful communication across the disciplines by emphasizing elements of effective writing and academic research. Topics include rhetorical considerations for effective writing, process-oriented writing and revision, critical reading skills, approaches to group collaboration, research tools, bibliographies, academic integrity, and citation methods.
Sessional Lecturers must be willing to share with students the knowledge, experience and an appreciation of what research is at a post-secondary level. We are looking for Sessional Lecturers from a variety of disciplines who possess a PhD, or Master’s degree, who have previously taught post-secondary courses.
Because this course has a defined curriculum, instructors will be required to participate in regular team meetings to discuss their teaching experiences and student feedback. We are looking for Sessional Lecturers who enjoy working in a team setting and have a desire to provide regular, focused feedback to students through classroom discussions and a variety of oral and written assignments.
Candidates should include a cover letter, a current resume/curriculum vitae and a teaching dossier with their application. The teaching dossier should contain a statement of your teaching philosophy and previous student evaluations (if any).
All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada, and the work associated with this position must be performed within Canada.
The University of Regina is committed to an inclusive workplace that reflects the richness of the community that we serve. The University welcomes applications from all qualified individuals, including individuals within the University’s employment equity categories of women, persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities, Indigenous persons, individuals of diverse gender and sexual orientation and all groups protected by the Human Rights Code.
