- Assist the Project Manager in the initial set up, ordering of resources, and preparing program materials.
- Conduct program outreach/marketing and recruit and screen applicants for the program.
- Meet with clients for initial character-based assessment to refer to Meridian Credit Union.
- Provide individual one-on-one support/counseling regarding training & employment action plan, financial counselling and job search (meetings and follow-up until loan is paid in full and employment goals satisfied)
- Assist clients to make informed decisions about training selection
- Based on participants’ training & employment action plan, work with participants in liaising with employers/organizations to develop employment opportunities.
- Contact employers/organizations for job shadowing opportunities and conduct follow ups and to engage in problem solving as needed.
- Collect and analyze statistics and program evaluation data and draft monthly/quarterly reports for review by the Manager.
- Draft annual letter and correspondence to Regulatory Bodies and Colleges and quarterly e-blast to clients.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as client booking and data collection/entry.
- Engage in outreach, partnership development and participate in community networking meetings as required
- Provide assistance/back up for each other as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- University Degree or College Diploma in a related discipline
- Extensive knowledge of Employment and Newcomer Services
- Demonstrated financial literacy skills and budgeting skills
- Experience in following up referrals, leads and supporting clients in loan applications to Financial Institutions
- Minimum 1 year demonstrated training, job search, and job development experience.
- In-depth understanding of the accreditation process and training providers for newcomer clients
- Knowledge of current job search techniques
- Demonstrated knowledge of LMI, job search and recruitment and community resources
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups – especially with newcomers to Canada
- Demonstrated understanding of community resources, programs and services
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Goal oriented highly organized and flexible and adaptable: with superior time management skills
- Demonstrated use of computer technology including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Ability to work evenings, weekends or split shifts as necessary
