A-Class Industrial Mechanic / Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Industrial Mechanic/Technician to join our maintenance team at a high-output industrial bakery. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing high-capacity baking equipment and automated systems, including ovens, mixers, conveyors, packaging machinery, proofers, refrigeration units, and PLC-driven systems. Strong mechanical and electrical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under tight production schedules are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance on bakery equipment and automation systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on large-scale machinery and robotics.
• Conduct inspections and safety checks to ensure compliance with food safety and operational standards.
• Interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, PLC ladder logic, and manuals for repairs and upgrades.
• Collaborate with production and sanitation teams to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.
• Participate in equipment installation, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
• Use CMMS to document activities and generate reports.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, and other safety standards in a food production environment.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace following 5S principles.
• Mentor and support B-Class and C-Class maintenance team members.

Required Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in food manufacturing or industrial bakery maintenance.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems, automation, PLC troubleshooting, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Experience with industrial ovens, proofers, mixers, dough handling, and packaging lines.
• Proficiency with machine shop tools and measurement instruments.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills under pressure.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Omron PLCs and HMIs.
• Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
• Electrical licenses or certifications (e.g., food safety, lockout/tagout).
• Experience with CMMS platforms (e.g., Fiix, eMaint, SAP PM).
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Work Conditions

• Fast-paced environment with exposure to heat, noise, and flour dust.
• Rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and on-call as needed.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights or in confined spaces.
