Public Health Nurse (One Part -time position)

The Middlesex-London Health Unit has an exciting vacancy for a Part -time Public Health Nurse to work on the Social Marketing and Health System Partnerships team in the Family and Community Health division at our Citi Plaza location, London Ontario.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Under the direction of the Manager, Social Marketing and Health System Partnerships, the successful candidate will:

  • Utilize evidence-informed practice in the development and implementation of communication and social marketing interventions for prioritized program areas, including, but not limited to the Tobacco and Vapour Product program and the Community Based Immunization Outreach program;
  • Work collaboratively with other Teams in the Health Unit, with other public health units, healthcare providers, childcare and early years professionals, and other non-governmental organizations to gather and use target population insights to develop communication and public education materials that increase knowledge and change attitudes, beliefs, and practices in order to prevent disease and to promote and protect the health of individuals and populations;
  • Support and contribute to the identification and development of policy options for public health issues, the provision of evidence-based feedback on health impacts of policies, and the provision of technical assistance to develop or change laws, regulations, ordinances, and policies, primarily at the regional, provincial, or federal levels;
  • Develop and maintain partnerships within the health system, sharing information, coordinating activities, and sharing/mobilizing resources to work towards a common goal;
  • Use group facilitation skills and complete team and organization-level tools and reporting templates to plan, implement, evaluate and document assigned work, including but not limited to operational plan templates, and evidence summaries.
  • Function within the mission, philosophy & policies of the Middlesex-London Health Unit; and,
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited nursing program (BScN);
  • Current certificate of competence from the Ontario College of Nurses (CNO);
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s license and own transportation;
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills;
  • Ability to synthesize complex information from multiple sources and the application to the development of health promotion strategies;
  • Demonstrated experience in planning population health promotion strategies, health communication, and working in multi-sector community collaborations;
  • Excellent project coordination and organizational skills;
  • Basic computer skills in the areas of documentation, MS Office & database software;
  • Skills, knowledge, and experience working with an increasingly diverse population, and an understanding of health equity, diversity, and inclusion; and,
  • The ability to communicate (oral and written) in other language(s) is highly desirable.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $38.41 to $51.39 based on qualifications and experience.
