Job description

The SaskEnergy Enterprise Networks team operates, maintains, troubleshoots and architects SaskEnergy’s corporate and SCADA network infrastructure.

SaskEnergy is seeking up to two (2) Network Analyst resources. The successful candidates will work within the Enterprise Networks team to support the operational administration and implementation of the various components of their LAN/WAN infrastructure for both corporate and SCADA networks. The resources will follow team standards based on current industry and security best practices for the configuration and implementations of network infrastructure.

The focused responsibilities of each Network Analyst resource will be as follows:

Resource #1:

This resource will have a minimum of 3 years recent and practical network administration/analyst experience. This resource will be primarily focused on day to day operational network administration work.

Resource #2:

This resource will have a minimum of 5 years recent and practical network administration/analyst, and design/architecture experience. This resource will be capable of handling day to day operational network administration work, as well as contribute to the design, architecture, planning and implementation of improvements to the SaskEnergy network.

SaskEnergy may decide at its sole discretion to contract with only one candidate who meets the requirements from either the Resource #1 or Resource #2 description. SaskEnergy may also decide at its sole discretion to contract with two candidates who both meet the requirements from either the Resource #1 or Resource #2 description.

Ideally the resource will have:

1. Proven proficiency with Layer 3 Spine and Leaf data center networks using VXLAN with BGP EVPN

2. Proven proficiency working with BGP and OSPF

3. Proven proficiency in working with Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, WLAN Controllers and WAPs

4. Proven proficiency working with Cisco CLI for IOS, ASA, IOS-XE and NX-0S

5. Proven proficiency working with Cisco Remote Access and L2L VPN Technologies

6. Proven proficiency working with Cisco Prime Infrastructure Version 3 or higher

7. Proven proficiency working with configuring and administering load balancers

8. Proven proficiency working with Microsoft Azure – IaaS

9. Proven proficiency with network security best practices

10. Experience implementing network technologies to support organizational technology projects

11. Experience in scripting for network automation using Bash or Python is an asset

12. Proven proficiency in collaborating with multi-disciplinary project teams

13. Understanding of enterprise level network

14. Understanding of integrations of an on premise environment and cloud environments

15. North American job experience

Typical activities in this role include:

1. Administration, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting and documentation of the enterprise network environment

2. Prepare plans for development and installation of network devices according to present and future requirements and standards

3. Provides expert technical support, administration, and engineering on Cisco network devices

4. Monitoring, performance tunes, troubleshooting and resolution of system problems to ensure system availability

5. Manage and maintain network disaster recovery including planning, implementation, maintenance and testing

6. Interacts with our user base (corporate and field employees) on an as needed basis regarding technology issues and escalations

7. Patching network equipment using company standard processes

8. Maintains systems integrity through change control and problem management procedures and communication with internal customers

9. Accomplishes department objectives by working with other team members; organizing and monitoring work process

10. Follows Standard Operating Procedures when carrying out position responsibilities

11. Attends and participates in team meetings

12. Work with various teams to establish scalable network solutions

13. Act as a representative of Digital Technology & Security

The key skills and knowledge areas required for the resource are outlined in attached Appendix C – Supplementary Specifications. The Network Analyst must be able to perform in a team environment with strong interpersonal and professional communication skills. North American job experience is considered an asset for this proposal. Proponents are encouraged to provide specific and qualitative verbiage of other areas where their expertise can add value to our teams, and make our projects as successful as possible.

The preference for start date is as soon as possible. The initial term for this role will conclude on March 31, 2023; after which SaskEnergy will evaluate its ongoing requirements and potentially extend the term for this Resource in accordance with the terms and conditions of the proponent’s Technology Master Service Agreement (TMSA).

The Resources will be required to work and be located on site at SaskEnergy Head Office in Regina, Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm and the proposed hourly rate shall be inclusive of all travel and living costs (PST and GST are extra). Travel to support offices across the province will be required.

CONTRACT DURATION

The Contract will be effective for an initial term commencing on the date of award and ending on March 31, 2023. The Contract will automatically renew for successive one (1) year terms, a maximum of four (4) times, unless the Contract is terminated in accordance with its provisions or by either party, at least ten (10) business days prior to the expiry of the then current term, providing the other party with written notice of its intent to terminate the Contract upon the conclusion of the then current term. Renewal terms will be subject to the same terms and conditions, including rates, used during the initial term unless otherwise agreed to by the parties. If a notice of termination is provided, the provision of any goods or services under the Contract must be approved in advance by the Administrator, and will be paid for at the rates then in force.
