Job summary

Southern Health-Santé Sud in Steinbach, Manitoba, is seeking an Engineer 5th Class to monitor and maintain building and medical systems at Bethesda Regional Health Centre.

The position is in person, with Day/Evening/Weekend shifts, 7.75 hours daily, and requires initiative, attention to detail and the ability to work independently or in a team.

Power Engineering 5th Class certification is required; bilingual ability is preferred; on-call duties with rapid response time are included.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Lead - Physical Plant Services, the Engineer 5th Class is responsible for monitoring and maintaining building and medical related systems and associated equipment in a 5th class plant.

The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Experience

• Minimum two (2) years' experience working in a maintenance position.
• Previous experience working with electrical, carpentry, plumbing, heating, or air-conditioning.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Power Engineering - 5th Class Certificate as recognized by the Province of Manitoba.
• Other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered.

• Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and their purpose.

• Knowledge of Fire Codes and C.S.A standards.

Physical Requirements

• May be required to be on call evenings and weekends as necessary.
• Will be required to respond to the facility within 20 minutes of being notified when on call.
