Job description

About this opportunity :

As a 5G Interoperability Test (IoDT) & Integration Engineer, you will play a critical role in integrating, testing, and optimizing the functional performance, reliability, and robustness of a 5G E2E network with a focus on the Radio Access Network (RAN) features. You will work directly with UE / device partner engineers to execute Interoperability testing while collaborating with these partner operators to debug RAN / UE issues and optimize network performance.

What you will do

  • Lead IoDT test and integration activities for RAN features software
  • Work directly with UE / device partner engineers to run IoDT test plans and debug issues
  • Trouble-shoot issues to determine if they are RAN or UE related
  • Writing trouble reports on the issues found
  • Supporting / working with our software design teams to investigate issues
  • Write test reports and record test results
  • Work extensively in a test lab environment
  • Support the development of automated testing, where appropriate

The skills you bring :

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or STEM discipline and 5+ years of professional engineering experience; OR 7+ years of professional engineering experience, in lieu of a degree
  • Hands on 4G / 5G system testing, interoperability testing & integration with Radios, gNodeBs, DUs, preferably Ericsson products
  • Experience with 4G or 5G air interface, 3GPP call processing, and network architecture specifically focused on the Radio Access Network (RAN)
  • Experience with UE (User Equipment - Phone / Handset) log analysis and other debug tools (QXDM, QCAT, Wireshark)
  • Experience with UDP / TCP / IPv4 / IPv6 and debugging basic networking issues
  • Experience with related test tools (e.g. WaveJudge, channel emulator) and test programing (e.g. scripting experience in Perl or Python)

Preferred Skills & Experience :

  • Strong knowledge of wireless communications, networking protocols and / or signal processing
  • Prior experience debugging issues for a cellular network deployed at scale (either as a RAN vendor, network operator, or phone OEM)
  • Software development experience with python
  • Strong skills in debugging and performance optimization; exceptional analytical skills and engineering fundamentals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements
  • Can-do attitude with strong customer focus
  • Must be willing to work extended hours as needed
