Family Day Care Services in Brampton, ON, seeks an Assistant Teacher (Part-Time) for 25 hours/week in a split shift. This role supports an Early Learning program for children aged 0-12, under the guidance of E.C.E. teachers, and aligns with CCEYA and municipal guidelines.

The position runs from Oct 1, 2026 to Oct 31, 2027 at 45 Meltwater Crescent. Candidate must have prior child care experience, knowledge of best practices, and be available 7 am–6 pm Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with children in a child care centre or educational setting
• Knowledge of best practices in the early learning and childcare sector
• Well-developed skills in areas such as leadership, communication, organization, assessment, teamwork, confidentiality, commitment and accountability, initiative and creativity
• Awareness of diversity and social inclusion
• Medical required – TB (two stages) 6 months current to hiring date
• Police Vulnerable Sector Check 6 months current to hiring date
• Standard First Aid and CPR, level C
• Able to work Monday to Friday between 7 am-6 pm

• Support the implementation of the High/Scope educational approach to Curriculum and The Hanen Learning Language and Loving It Program
• Assist E.C.E. in creating a program plan that reflects children’s interests and responds to diverse needs
• Participate in short and long term planning and evaluation activities
• Assist the E.C.E in observing and assessing children’s progress and behavior
• Assist the E.C.E in providing Individual program plans for children with special needs
• Demonstrate empathy, sensitivity and support to the family unit
• Practice respectful communication with children, parents, colleagues, teachers, managers, students and volunteers
• Support, comfort and encourage children experiencing difficulties and help them manage feelings
• Ensure activity areas are appropriately equipped and maintained
• Work within Ontario’s Health and Safety standards
• Guide development of independent eating, dressing and toileting habits
• Perform other duties as required

Job Purpose:

The Assistant Teacher works in partnership with the E.C.E. Teacher(s) toprovide and support an Early Learning and Development Program for children (0-12 years), in a group setting in keeping with theChild Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), municipal guidelines and the policies and procedures of Family Day.

Job Duties:

• Perform other duties as required
