Position Overview

The 5-Axis CNC Machinist will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating advanced multi-axis CNC machines to produce precision components to exact specifications. This role is ideal for an experienced machinist who enjoys working on large, complex parts, tight tolerances, and technically challenging work.

Key Responsibilities

Program, set up, and operate 5-axis CNC milling machines (Mazak, Haas, DMG Mori, Okuma).
Interpret complex blueprints, CAD/CAM files, and engineering drawings.
Use CAM software such as Mastercam and Fusion 360 to develop and optimize programs.
Perform in-process and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, and CMM equipment.
Optimize machining processes for cycle time, tool life, and part quality.
Set up and operate CNC VTL machines for large-diameter components (30”+).
Adjust tooling, offsets, and programs as required.
Safely operate overhead cranes for large component handling.
Maintain machines, tooling, and fixtures in top working condition.
Follow all safety, PPE, and quality standards at all times.
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve machining challenges.

Qualifications

5+ years of CNC machining experience, including 3+ years of 5-axis machining.
Proven experience machining large parts (30”+).
Strong knowledge of Fanuc and Siemens controls.
Solid understanding of G-code, feeds & speeds, tooling strategies, and GD&T.
Experience machining materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, Inconel, and titanium.
Skilled with precision measurement and inspection tools.
Experience operating overhead cranes.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and communication skills.
