Job description

Continental hour rotating shift: week 1 (dayshift), week 2 (afternoon shift)

Pay rate: to per hour starting (DOE)

Permanent position after 3 months of probation

Our client is an electrical steel products manufacturer located in Burlington, Ontario. As the largest producer of transformer cores in North America, they specialize in wound, amorphous, and step-lap cores for power generation and distribution equipment. Their electrical steel products and magnetic materials are also used in electric vehicle motors, charging stations, data centers, audio equipment, and other industrial applications.

Since 2, our client has grown from a small niche manufacturer to an integral part of the North American electrical steel supply chain, with multiple facilities and over employees.

How you'll make an impact

Your work as a millwright in industrial maintenance is vital to supporting operations, ensuring efficiency, maintaining smooth operations, increasing productivity, and reducing costs.

Job Responsibilities

Complete work orders and perform general preventative maintenance on all machines. Identify and troubleshoot machine irregularities and breakdowns. Assemble equipment and machinery:

  • Install and repair mechanical equipment and systems
  • Follow all safety rules and maintain an organized workplace. Work from blueprints, diagrams, schematics, shop orders, instructions, and ideas
  • Plan mechanical work during planned shutdowns with supervision. Maintain inventory of mechanical supplies and requisition parts as necessary
  • Install, dismantle, examine, repair, recondition, rebuild/overhaul, and re-install mechanical systems such as motors, gearboxes, drives, chains, pulleys, hydraulic components, air systems, and filtration. Gather information for replacement parts
  • Commission machinery on scheduled basis
  • Examine and repair equipment to ensure continuous plant operation
  • Make minor adjustments and lubricate tools and equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled
  • Perform 5S-related tasks
  • Communicate effectively with team members and maintenance supervisor
  • Assemble machinery prior to installation using hand tools, measuring tools, power tools, and welding equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures
  • Hold crane, forklift, elevated work platform, and confined space training licenses
  • Work on continental shift rotations

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Provincial license required for Industrial Mechanical / Millwright (A)
  • Proof of completion of Certificate of Apprenticeship issued by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development and Certificate of Qualification issued by Skilled Trades Ontario
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Mechanical aptitude
