3rd Class Shift Engineer, Burnaby Hospital

Job Summary

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Casual Shift Engineer at Burnaby Hospital in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Qualifications
  • Certificate as a 3rd Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of B.C.
  • Four years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain steam boilers and ancillary equipment safely and efficiently on a shift basis, in accordance with the Power Engineers, Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Monitor boiler operations, log pressure, temperature, and levels hourly.
  • Perform repairs, alterations, and preventive maintenance on mechanical, refrigeration, and Power Plant equipment, including HVAC, refrigeration, sterilizing, medical gas, pneumatic tube systems, and distribution systems.
  • Maintain daily logs of all activities within the power plant.
  • Respond to emergency repairs, conduct inspections, and act as Fire Warden in the absence of the fire marshal.
  • Respond to hazardous spills and perform related duties such as cleaning, painting, and metal fabrication.
Skills and Abilities
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Physical ability to perform duties and operate related equipment.
