Qualifications

  • Completion of a 2 Year Power Engineering Technology program is essential.
  • Third Class Power Engineer Certificate of Qualification required.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Power Engineer, the 3rd Class Power Engineer performs a variety of tasks that ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the chiller plants, all high-pressure steam equipment, pressure vessels, water treatment programs, and all related auxiliary equipment as well as building mechanical systems at their assigned site.

The 3rd Class Power Engineer completes rounds of building mechanical rooms and must have a basic understanding of other building maintenance trades as he inspects various mechanical systems, e.g., medical gas/air/vacuum system, air handling units (ventilation), heating systems, fire water pumping system. The 3rd Class Power Engineer is also responsible for silent hour emergency calls.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • 2 Year Power Engineering Technology program
  • Third Class Power Engineer Certificate of Qualification
  • Experience in high-pressure boiler plant environment and familiarity with the systems and equipment associated with a heating plant operation.
  • Experience with building chiller systems and all associated equipment
  • Experience with plant mechanical system maintenance
  • Familiarity with computerized boiler control systems and building energy management systems
  • Strong safety track record and mindset is a must
  • Knowledge of labor and safety codes
  • Infection Control Awareness
  • Previous building maintenance experience
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Water Treatment Familiarization
  • Fire Extinguisher Training
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
  • Permanent, Full-Time Position; 80 Hours Bi-weekly
Compensation and Benefits

$27.93 - $28.39 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
