2nd CLASS POWER ENGINEER, BROOKS, ALBERTA

With approximately 3,300 employees, JBS Food Canada ULC (“JBS Canada”) is one of Canada's largest beef processors. The JBS Canada facility in Brooks has the capacity to produce products ranging from boxed beef primals, ground beef, beef trimmings, beef by-products, and hides which are shipped across Canada and worldwide. We are currently seeking a 2nd Class Power Engineer to join our team at our main processing facility in Brooks, AB.

NOTE: This role will be located in BROOKS, AB.

You will:

1. Ensure total care and control of the Boiler Room and associate ancillary equipment
2. Ensure total care and control of a large ammonia refrigerated plant
3. Ensure daily plant inspection of ammonia refrigeration and boiler systems and that all systems are operating in a safe and efficient manner
4. Ensure the recording of data and all relevant information to the operation of the plant under the Chief Engineer’s jurisdiction
5. Have a bias for action to reduce energy consumption be it gas, electricity, water, and ammonia usage
6. Undertake capital projects to improve operating performance of the plant in consultation with the Maintenance Manager
7. Provide leadership by instilling safety, objectives, and measurements
8. Conduct detailed diagnostic audits of each plant using various processes and techniques and provide coaching and direction to the plant’s management team
9. Take on additional responsibilities as position requires

You have:

1. Valid (ABSA Certified) 2nd Class Engineering certificate
2. Proven team leader, team player, committed to excellence, and positive attitude
3. Familiar with government and regulatory agencies
4. Demonstrated supervisory experience and strong interpersonal and communication skills
5. Knowledge of Ammonia refrigeration systems and natural gas fired steam boiler systems
6. Familiarity with system computer interfacing
7. Knowledge of PLC systems
8. Past experience working in a preventative maintenance program
9. Ability to ensure safe and efficient operations of boiler plant and large ammonia refrigeration system

Work Site Environment: Noisy, Odours, Hot, Cold/refrigerated.
