- The main processing plant in Brooks, Alberta, harvesting and processing about 4,200 cattle daily.
- The Head Office and a case-ready plant in Calgary, Alberta.
- JBS Ontario in Belleville, Ontario.
The Brooks facility produces a range of products including boxed beef primals, ground beef, beef trimmings, by-products, and hides, shipped across Canada and globally. Our Calgary facility specializes in value-added products such as marinated, portion-sized, and multi-pack options. JBS Ontario supplies fresh meat and seafood products to leading Canadian retailers.

NOTE: This role will be located in BROOKS, AB.
Responsibilities
- Ensure total care and control of the Boiler Room and associated equipment.
- Manage a large ammonia refrigeration plant.
- Conduct daily inspections of ammonia refrigeration and boiler systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Record data and relevant information regarding plant operations under the Chief Engineer’s supervision.
- Implement measures to reduce energy consumption, including gas, electricity, water, and ammonia.
- Lead capital projects aimed at improving plant performance in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager.
- Promote safety through leadership, setting objectives, and establishing measurements.
- Perform diagnostic audits of plant systems and provide coaching to the management team.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- Valid (ABSA Certified) 2nd Class Engineering certificate.
- Proven leadership skills, team-oriented, committed to excellence with a positive attitude.
- Familiarity with government and regulatory agencies.
- Supervisory experience with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration and natural gas-fired steam boiler systems.
- Experience with system computer interfacing and PLC systems.
- Background in preventative maintenance programs.
- Ability to operate boiler and ammonia refrigeration systems safely and efficiently.
