2nd CLASS POWER ENGINEER, BROOKS, ALBERTA

With approximately 3,300 employees, JBS Food Canada ULC (“JBS Canada”) is one of Canada's largest beef processors. Our facilities include:

• The main processing plant in Brooks, Alberta, harvesting and processing about 4,200 cattle daily.
• The Head Office and a case-ready plant in Calgary, Alberta.
• JBS Ontario in Belleville, Ontario.

The Brooks facility produces a range of products including boxed beef primals, ground beef, beef trimmings, by-products, and hides, shipped across Canada and globally. Our Calgary facility specializes in value-added products such as marinated, portion-sized, and multi-pack options. JBS Ontario supplies fresh meat and seafood products to leading Canadian retailers.

NOTE: This role will be located in BROOKS, AB.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure total care and control of the Boiler Room and associated equipment.
2. Manage a large ammonia refrigeration plant.
3. Conduct daily inspections of ammonia refrigeration and boiler systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
4. Record data and relevant information regarding plant operations under the Chief Engineer’s supervision.
5. Implement measures to reduce energy consumption, including gas, electricity, water, and ammonia.
6. Lead capital projects aimed at improving plant performance in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager.
7. Promote safety through leadership, setting objectives, and establishing measurements.
8. Perform diagnostic audits of plant systems and provide coaching to the management team.
9. Perform additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

1. Valid (ABSA Certified) 2nd Class Engineering certificate.
2. Proven leadership skills, team-oriented, committed to excellence with a positive attitude.
3. Familiarity with government and regulatory agencies.
4. Supervisory experience with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
5. Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration and natural gas-fired steam boiler systems.
6. Experience with system computer interfacing and PLC systems.
7. Background in preventative maintenance programs.
8. Ability to operate boiler and ammonia refrigeration systems safely and efficiently.
