Elderwood Animation Studio is a small, remote-first 2D animation studio with animation production based in both Vancouver, Canada & Guangzhou, China. We specialize in anime-style game trailers, cinematic teasers, and promotional videos for video games. Our team of freelancers have worked with a range of clients, from indie developers to major studios such as Riot Games (League of Legends), MiHoYo (Genshin Impact), and Game Science (Black Myth: Wukong). We focus on dynamic visual storytelling, expressive character animation, and clear, stylized motion designed to elevate game marketing content.

About the Role

We’re currently looking for a 2D Animation Intern to support our team in the creation of anime-style character animation and storyboards for trailers and cinematics. This is a production-focused internship aimed at students or recent graduates looking to gain experience on real-world projects in the game and animation industries.

The ideal candidate has a strong interest in stylized 2D animation, a good sense of timing and posing, and is eager to learn in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Animate 2D hand drawn characters in an anime-inspired style, focusing on acting, timing, and motion
• Assist in creating storyboards and visual sequences for trailers and cutscenes
• Translate scripts and direction into clear visual storytelling through key poses and rough animation
• Apply feedback from the team to revise and improve animation quality
• Keep files and scenes organized for team collaboration

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an animation or related program
• A portfolio or demo reel that includes 2D animation and/or storyboard work in a stylized or anime-inspired aesthetic
• Basic knowledge of animation principles, timing, and posing
• Experience with TVPaint animation software
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Interest in video games and narrative animation
