Job summary

SOURCES is a community-based nonprofit providing support to neurodiverse children and families across the Lower Mainland. The Behaviour Consultant role focuses on assessment, program design and hands-on training for families and support staff.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least two years of experience. Travel across the Lower Mainland is anticipated, with occasional evening hours to support clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as ABA or Psychology.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Behavior Consultant with family training.
• Experience with ABA principles, Functional Behavior Assessment, and Behavior Support Plans.

Responsibilities

• Maintain electronic client records.

Description Of Position

The Behaviour Consultant will offer a full range of consultation and support services to families of school-age children with neurodevelopmental disabilities, including assessment of behaviour problems, design, and implementation of programs specific to the needs of the child/youth, hands on training to their parents and support staff and evaluation procedures to determine success of the programs.

PBSS Program Manager

General Responsibilities

• Maintains electronic client records.
• Participates in program evaluation and training.
• Ensures that all SOURCES policies and procedures are followed.

Program-specific Responsibilities

• Conduct assessment and analysis of behaviour.
• Design and implement strategies tailored to the unique needs of the family.
• Develop visual supports and teaching materials.
• Provide hands-on training and coaching for parents and other support people.
• Monitor the effectiveness of implemented strategies.
• Revise and modify intervention programs when expected progress is not observed.

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in a related area (e.g., Applied Behavior Analysis or Psychology).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Behavior Consultant, where training family members/interventionists and programming for persons with developmental disabilities took place.
• Experience and knowledge in the following areas: Applied Behavior Analysis principles, Functional Behavior Assessment, analysis and design, planning and implementation of individual Behavior Support Plans.
• Experience working with children and youth with challenging behaviors.
• Knowledge of Family Centered Positive Behavior Support and the creation of Summary Statements and Competing Pathway Diagrams.
• Ability to create and implement Safety Plans, and monitor or revise the Safety Plan on an as‑needed basis.
• Experience with providing parent training to families or other caregivers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; speaking a second language is an asset.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team and demonstrate initiative.
• Experience working with other social service professionals (Social Workers, teachers, therapists).
• Valid BC driver’s license and own vehicle required.
• Ability travel frequently to family homes throughout the Lower Mainland.
• Maintain flexibility in start and end times, with the ability to work 1 to 2 evenings per week as needed to support clients.
