Job summary

The Upper Grand District School Board is seeking Special Education Resource Instructors to work onsite with students in remedial programs. Successful applicants will support literacy and numeracy through individualized support and collaboration with educators, addressing the needs of students with special education requirements during summer sessions.

Qualifications

  • Requires understanding of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Experience working with Grade 6, 7, and 8 educational requirements.
  • Ability to adapt program materials for special needs students.

Responsibilities

  • Support students with special education needs in Grade 6, 7, and 8.
  • Assist teachers with planning and accommodations.
  • Provide individualized support to students as needed.

LOCATION : Onsite : College Heights SS 371 College Ave W Guelph and / or Dufferin County TBD

DATES & HOURS : July 3 2025 to July 12 2025; 8 : 30 a.m. 2 : 45 p.m. (5.5 hours with 45 minute unpaid lunch)

RATE of PAY : $62.66 / hour

JOB SUMMARY :

The successful applicant(s) will work with the Summer School Supervisor and Support Program Instructors to support students with special education needs registered in Grade 6 7 8 remedial programs in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy.

Summer SERTs will :

Understand and be familiar with the Individual Education Plans (IEPs) of students in the program

Understand individual student needs in the context of the remedial program and assist teachers with planning for accommodations

Assist in the adaptation of program materials for students in the program(s) with special education needs

Communicate collaboratively with teachers parents and supervisors / administration regarding student needs and student progress

Provide individualized support to students as needed

Assist teacher(s) with the collection of diagnostic / evaluative work

REQUIREMENTS :

Currently a qualified Intermediate Teacher / Resource Teacher with a strong knowledge of Grade 6 7 and 8

Language and Mathematics expectations

Minimum Special Education Part 1 Additional Qualification

  • Special Education Resource positions will be based on enrollment of students with special education needs in program(s).
