Job description

Reporting to the Manager of Oncology Nursing Services, you will be responsible for providing quality nursing care to patients, including complex patient populations whose outcomes are not predictable. As part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will practice within the Professional Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Standards of Care identified by CANO and CCO, the Philosophy of patient and family-centered care, mission, vision, values, and the policies of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

  1. Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, or the ability to become licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  2. Current certification in BCLS
  3. Recent knowledge in Medical Nursing with experience in the care of complex patient populations, including, but not limited to: care of immunosuppressed patients (oral care, wound prevention, wound care, safety precautions)
  4. Ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in conjunction with her/his basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery
  5. Collaborates and provides consultation to Registered Practice Nurses when patients assigned to the RPN become unstable or have outcomes that are not as expected
  6. Identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responses and take appropriate action
  7. Ability to simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions
  8. Strong interprofessional and communication skills
  9. Central Venous Line Management

Salary Range: $39.070 to 56.000
