ICT INFRASTRUCTURE & DATA PROTECTION ANALYST

ABOUT THE UPPER GRAND DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD (UGDSB)

The UGDSB employs approximately 4,000 dedicated staff serving over 35,000 students across 65 elementary and 11 secondary schools, as well as continuing education and adult learning centres in Dufferin, Wellington, and Guelph. THE OPPORTUNITY

The Upper Grand District School Board seeks a dynamic individual for a permanent, full-time ICT Infrastructure & Data Protection Analyst role. This 12-month position is available to start as soon as possible.

This role involves analyzing, designing, optimizing, and securing the organization's IT infrastructure. Responsibilities include ensuring security compliance, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and aligning infrastructure strategies with organizational goals. Tasks include maintaining IT infrastructure, developing PowerShell scripts, and providing Tier 3 support for complex issues.

The analyst will also design and manage data protection strategies, develop backup solutions, monitor backup processes, and safeguard data. Additional duties include conducting risk assessments, enforcing policies, leading disaster recovery plans, incident response, and mentoring junior staff.

LOCATION & COMPENSATION

Location: Guelph Board Office, 500 Victoria Road N, Guelph, ON

Hourly Rate: Base rate: $31.72 to $38.90/hour; effective September 1, 2024. Including a 45% market adjustment, the total hourly rate ranges from $46.00 to $56.40, subject to fluctuation.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Post-secondary Degree/Diploma in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 5 years of relevant experience. A degree in a related field is preferred.
  • At least 5 years’ experience managing ICT infrastructure, including servers, storage, network components, security systems, OS, applications, and cloud resources.
  • Minimum 3 years in cloud platform management, IAM, ITSM, hypervisors, disaster recovery, and Tier 3 support.
  • Expertise in data backup solutions, security measures, risk assessments, policy enforcement, disaster recovery, and incident management.
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL, CIS Security Controls, and project management. Experience with vendor management is also required.
  • Proven diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to system optimization and digital transformation.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, privacy, regulations, audit, and compliance. Ability to maintain proper documentation.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Azure Administrator, CompTIA Security, ITIL Foundation, and others are preferred.
  • Proficiency with TOPdesk, Microsoft Intune, PowerShell, Azure, HyperV, Veeam, and related tools.
