A Decision Support Consultant at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre enables and encourages the pursuit of excellence by supporting strategic priorities through quality, effectiveness, efficiency, and innovation. Reporting to the Manager, Decision Support and Case Costing, the Decision Support Consultant works closely with all levels of leadership and provides expert financial advice, analysis, and support to develop comprehensive operational plans, budgets, and financial strategies that align with TBRHSC's mission, vision, and strategic priorities.

The Decision Support team is seeking a dynamic Consultant to ensure that TBRHSC operates with financial excellence, continuously optimizing its resources and capabilities to support its mission of providing high-quality healthcare services. By delivering insightful financial guidance and fostering a culture of business acumen within the leadership group, the Decision Support Consultant contributes to the long-term sustainability and success of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Analytics & Reporting: Provide analytical support for key organizational initiatives, including performance management and process improvement, helping to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and innovation.
  2. Financial Modeling & Forecasting: Develop financial models and forecasts that aid in long-term planning and assess financial outcomes to support decision-making processes.
  3. Mentorship & Development: Mentor and assist in developing business acumen within the leadership team, enhancing their understanding of financial processes.
  4. Operational Efficiency: Offer strategic recommendations based on thorough financial analysis to help optimize performance and drive improvements across the organization.
Education and Experience:
  • Degree in Business Administration, Health Informatics, or Information Management.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in consulting, performance, and data analysis, preferably in healthcare.
  • Experience leading project teams from initiation to close.
  • Applying performance improvement and change management methodologies, preferably in healthcare.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Advanced problem-solving, analytical, and coaching skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, including polished presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to work with staff and leaders at all levels of a complex healthcare organization to bring about improvement and achieve results.
  • Advanced business acumen and the ability to develop, lead, and manage initiatives to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Superior skills in data management and manipulation using Excel (pivot tables, advanced filters, lookup functions, macros).
  • Mastery of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and corporate communication tools.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
Assets:
  • Master's Degree in a business or health-related field.
  • Working knowledge of the healthcare system.
  • Advanced knowledge of Ontario Hospital Reporting/Management Information System standards and funding methodologies (HBAM and QBP).
  • Working knowledge of Discharge Abstract Database (DAD), NACRS, and other large data sets (e.g., wait times).

Salary Range: $45,351 to $53,354
