What you'll do
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will:
- Primarily act as the driver for Sydney Waterfront Campus' shuttle buses which includes transporting students safely between two off-campus parking lots to their main campus. This includes assisting students with boarding, maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle, and carrying out daily safety checks. The shuttle bus carries up to 24 passengers.
- Assist with transportation/delivery services related duties throughout the College.
- Provide routine information and answers to inquiries.
- Provide minor maintenance services as needed to maintain equipment and facilities in a safe and functional condition.
- Assist with the cleaning and maintenance of NSCC buildings as required.
- Comply with NSCC Policies and Procedures of OH&S by properly using and maintaining personal protective equipment, participating in the identification and correction of safety hazards found and demonstrating safe work practices and behavior.
- Perform your work according to established NSCC standards and guidelines.
- Assist with other related duties as assigned.
What you'll need
Qualifications
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- The minimum educational qualification for this position is a high school diploma or recognized equivalent (GED), or willingness to attain a high school diploma or GED within the probationary period. In addition, you possess a Forklift Operators Certificate and a valid, Class 4, Nova Scotia Driver's Licence with a clean driving record. Training in WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations would be considered an asset, as would Standard First Aid and CPR.
- You have a minimum of two years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience as a utility driver.
- You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail and Megamation.
- You have demonstrated experience providing maintenance duties (e.g. daily vehicle safety checks).
