The salary scale for NSCC Faculty is based on steps that range from $74,170.79 - $102,223.12. New Faculty may receive up to a maximum of five steps for relevant occupational experience and may receive up to an additional four steps for full-time equivalent years of instructional experience. The maximum a new Faculty can expect to receive is nine steps or $95,478.45.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Provide theoretical and practical in-person instruction in the full-time Early Childhood Education program. Delivery of this program will take place in the late afternoon/evening.
  • Collaboratively design and deliver educational experiences for a diverse group of learners, including preparation, instruction, assessment, and evaluation of students using a broad range of flexible teaching and learning practices and technologies.
  • Perform related duties including academic and career advisement, participating on committees, program marketing, curriculum revision/development, supporting and monitoring work placements, liaising with business and industry, and upholding NSCC policies and procedures.
  • Ensure health and safety practices are followed in your classroom, shops, and labs.
  • Maintain currency with the latest industry practices relevant to your program and develop your understanding of 21st-century teaching and learning practices.

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • The minimum educational qualification is a relevant post-secondary degree or a 2-year Early Childhood Education Diploma from an accredited institution, and a Nova Scotia Level 2 ECE Certification.
  • Level 3 ECE Certification is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of five years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in early childhood education.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and experience using a Learning Management System such as Brightspace is considered an asset.
  • Comfortable working in a digital environment and committed to using technology to enhance the student experience.
  • Ideally, you have experience delivering educational programs or training to adults.
  • Experience providing performance feedback is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in applying WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety, and occupation-specific safety practices.
