Job description

Our client is a successful and profitable automotive parts manufacturer seeking a Materials Supervisor responsible for coordinating activities within the materials department to meet divisional objectives.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop, implement, and manage procedures to ensure high inventory accuracy for raw materials, purchased components, WIP, and finished goods across multiple sites.
  2. Implement strategies to achieve and maintain departmental goals.
  3. Implement and refine the Solidat Warehouse Management System.
  4. Maintain effective JIT inventory at each location.
  5. Oversee hiring, training, and performance of Material Analysts.
  6. Lead and develop team members, fostering a positive, collaborative culture.
  7. Promote lean management techniques.
  8. Participate in APQP meetings and provide timely information for program success.
  9. Monitor daily outcomes such as inventory turns, delivery performance, and downtime prevention.
  10. Report on KPIs related to department goals.
  11. Ensure safety, quality, and performance in Inventory Control and Planning.
  12. Communicate effectively with suppliers and the purchasing team daily.
  13. Lead flawless customer product launches and manage engineering changes.
  14. Reconcile inventory at outside processor facilities, both remotely and on-site.
  15. Conduct inventory cycle counts, physical inventories, and BOM audits.
  16. Implement effective corrective actions for inventory issues, utilizing read-across methods.
  17. Resolve supplier release issues efficiently.
  18. Maintain action plans to reduce slow-moving inventory.
  19. Ensure FIFO inventory rotation.
  20. Provide ongoing supplier performance feedback.
  21. Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
  22. Maintain 5S standards in the work environment.
  23. Attend relevant training sessions.
  24. Perform other duties as assigned or requested by management.
Candidate Profile:
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent in Materials Management & Supply Chain.
  • At least 5 years of inventory management experience in a multi-site manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
  • Experience with demand planning, master scheduling, and inventory control.
  • 3+ years of Warehouse Management System experience, preferably with Solidat.
  • Extensive supply chain experience, including raw materials, purchased components, and outside processors.
  • Strong lean manufacturing and process improvement background.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Excellent planning, leadership, team building, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in English (written and verbal).
  • Committed to continuous improvement and automation of manual processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid G driver's license.
  • APICS CSCP certification or equivalent is an asset.
  • Experience with value stream mapping and Six Sigma (Black/Green belt).
  • Knowledge of customs procedures in Canada & USA.
  • Familiarity with ISO-14001 and TS/IATF-16949 quality systems.
  • Forklift/reach truck certification and AZ driver’s license.
