Our client is a successful and profitable automotive parts manufacturer seeking a Materials Supervisor responsible for coordinating activities within the materials department to meet divisional objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage procedures to ensure high inventory accuracy for raw materials, purchased components, WIP, and finished goods across multiple sites.
- Implement strategies to achieve and maintain departmental goals.
- Implement and refine the Solidat Warehouse Management System.
- Maintain effective JIT inventory at each location.
- Oversee hiring, training, and performance of Material Analysts.
- Lead and develop team members, fostering a positive, collaborative culture.
- Promote lean management techniques.
- Participate in APQP meetings and provide timely information for program success.
- Monitor daily outcomes such as inventory turns, delivery performance, and downtime prevention.
- Report on KPIs related to department goals.
- Ensure safety, quality, and performance in Inventory Control and Planning.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers and the purchasing team daily.
- Lead flawless customer product launches and manage engineering changes.
- Reconcile inventory at outside processor facilities, both remotely and on-site.
- Conduct inventory cycle counts, physical inventories, and BOM audits.
- Implement effective corrective actions for inventory issues, utilizing read-across methods.
- Resolve supplier release issues efficiently.
- Maintain action plans to reduce slow-moving inventory.
- Ensure FIFO inventory rotation.
- Provide ongoing supplier performance feedback.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain 5S standards in the work environment.
- Attend relevant training sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested by management.
Candidate Profile:
- Post-secondary education or equivalent in Materials Management & Supply Chain.
- At least 5 years of inventory management experience in a multi-site manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
- Experience with demand planning, master scheduling, and inventory control.
- 3+ years of Warehouse Management System experience, preferably with Solidat.
- Extensive supply chain experience, including raw materials, purchased components, and outside processors.
- Strong lean manufacturing and process improvement background.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
- Excellent planning, leadership, team building, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in English (written and verbal).
- Committed to continuous improvement and automation of manual processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid G driver's license.
- APICS CSCP certification or equivalent is an asset.
- Experience with value stream mapping and Six Sigma (Black/Green belt).
- Knowledge of customs procedures in Canada & USA.
- Familiarity with ISO-14001 and TS/IATF-16949 quality systems.
- Forklift/reach truck certification and AZ driver’s license.
