Job Title: Unit Clerk

Status: Temporary Full Time (~6 Month Contract)

Department: Nephrology Clinic

Program: Nephrology

Days; 8 Hour Shifts (Subject to Change)

Location: Lakeridge Health Whitby

Wage Schedule: $28.340 - $29.620 per hour

This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 24 July 2025 and closing at 11:59 pm on 31 July 2025.

Duties And Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Patient Care Manager, this position supports and coordinates patient care plans within the Nephrology Clinics. The Unit Clerk supports the various members of the health care team to facilitate the flow of patients through the clinic. Duties include performing a wide variety of clerical functions within a clinical setting, including but not limited to, reception duties; scheduling and coordination of test; setting up appointments in EPIC; treatments; computer data entry; directing telephone calls and contacting patients by phone; faxing; chart preparation; scanning; and other duties assigned.

Qualifications

  • Medical Office Administration Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Knowledge and experience with EPIC, and computerized patient registration preferred;
  • Proven knowledge of medical terminology (tested);
  • Preferred experience/knowledge re: staffing according to both CUPE and ONA Collective Agreements;
  • Proven knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (tested - basic level);
  • Proven keyboarding skills of 30 wpm (tested);
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and work productively amid interruptions while working within a stressful environment;
  • Proven ability to maintain strict adherence to patient confidentiality;
  • Demonstrated exceptional communication skills - verbal, listening and written in order to effectively interact with all levels of staff, patients and families;
  • Proven ability to adapt positively to a changing environment;
  • Must have satisfactory performance record;

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area;

Conditions Of Employment

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.
