Job Title: Personal Support Worker (subsequent)

Status: Regular Part Time

Department: LG LTC 3W RESIDENTIAL

Program: Long Term Care

Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends; 8 Hour Shifts (Subject to Change)

Location: Lakeridge Health Long Term Care AP

Wage Schedule: $31.010 - $32.350 per hour

This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 24 June 2025 and closing at 11:59 pm on 27 June 2025.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assisting in meeting residents' needs as directed by: assisting with residents belongings, unpack and store, clothing labels, giving bed, tub baths and showers to those requiring assistance, assisting with personal grooming such as hair and nail care and oral hygiene including cleaning teeth and dentures, feeding totally dependent residents and assist others with their meals and providing nourishments to residents between meals, assisting in the ambulation and toileting of residents, making residents' beds, change linen, tidy dresser, bedside tables and other furniture, collecting linen for dispatch to laundry and sort and store clean linen
  • Collecting charts, records and reports
  • Cleaning, sterilizing and disinfecting instruments and equipment
  • Assisting in the implementation of the Guidelines on Activation and the Activity Program e.g. bringing residents to scheduled activities
  • Assisting in the development of residents by escorting new residents to assigned rooms, unpacking and storing their clothing and storing their valuables
  • Assisting in the maintenance of optimal safety standard to ensure the safety of residents and other staff.
  • Following the occupational health and safety requirements of the position and reporting any injury or occupational hazards to immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a 1 year Personal Support Worker program from an accredited Community College or educational institution accredited with the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC) is required;
  • Previous experience in a geriatric or long term care environment is preferred;
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate
  • Demonstrated compliance with and knowledge of safe work practices;
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to follow both oral and written instructions;
  • Demonstrated empathy, concern and interest in providing quality care and services for residents;
  • Physical ability to perform the essential duties of the job;
  • Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past 6 months;

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area

Conditions Of Employment

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.
