Job Title: Registered Practical Nurse
Status: Temporary Full Time (11 months)
Department: Ldrp, LHAP
Program: Women & Childrens Healthcare
Days, Nights, Weekends - 12 Hour Shifts (Subject to Change)
Location: Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering
Wage Schedule: $36.140 - $38.160 per hour
CUPE: 2500000966

Description:

The Registered Practical Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care in a multidisciplinary, family centred care environment. The ideal candidate will bring a confident and resourceful attitude in the face of challenges, and have the motivation to deliver results in a complex and demanding environment.

Qualifications:

  1. Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);
  2. Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited community college;
  3. Minimum of one year of recent (within two years) Birthing Centre experience [Ante Partum, Post Partum (Combined Care)] *required;
  4. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (Ontario Heart & Stroke guidelines preferred);
  5. Competency in the insertion and removal of urinary catheters and removal of intravenous;
  6. Competent and able to perform CPR at a Basic Cardiac Life Support level;
  7. Breastfeeding course or demonstrated experience an asset;
  8. Completion of Neonatal Resuscitation course (within 3 months of hire), Health Assessment and Medication courses;
  9. Demonstrated experience in performing venipuncture an asset;
  10. Demonstrated skills in providing patient education and sharing knowledge of expected outcomes and care;
  11. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and provide care in a fast paced, high pressure environment;
  12. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively and collaborate well with patients, families, other care providers and the community;
  13. Demonstrated excellent documentation skills;
  14. Demonstrated ability to effectively work - independently and within a multidisciplinary team and exercise sound judgement;
  15. Ability to perform essential duties of the position and all RPN nursing and related duties to the full scope of their practice;
  16. Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;
  17. Must have a satisfactory performance record;
  18. Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public;
  19. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.

Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
