Overview

#25-74: One (1) Assistant Residential Counsellor – Part Time

The CTRC is seeking an Assistant Residential Counsellor to join its team in Timmins. CTRC is a regional Developmental Services provider offering programs across the Temiskaming and Cochrane Districts, including coastal communities along James and Hudson Bay. The successful candidate will work in a community residential home offering supports to individuals with Developmental Disabilities. Supports include assisting with activities of daily living, leisure, recreation, interpersonal interactions, medical and personal care. They will work collaboratively with Residential Counsellors, a Registered Nurse, Psychological and Speech Services staff, and Client Support Workers, and report to a Residential Supervisor.

  • Provide supports with daily living activities, leisure, recreation, interpersonal interactions, medical and personal care in a community residential home.
  • Collaborate with team members including Residential Counsellors, a Registered Nurse, Psychological and Speech Services staff, and Client Support Workers.
  • Report to a Residential Supervisor and contribute to a supportive home environment for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Qualifications
  • Preference for a diploma or degree in the Human Services field or a Personal Support Worker Certificate. One year of experience in this area will also be considered.
  • Dependability, maturity, and a responsible attitude.
  • Updated Standard First Aid certificate (including Heart Saver CPR) and CPI, or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Wage: $26.64 to $27.13 per hour.
  • Part-time employees have access to HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan) from hire date and flexible shifts (2-4-6-8-10-12 hours within a 24-hour period).
  • Extended Health Benefits (80% of drug costs), Life insurance ($25,000), Dental ($1,500/yr), Vision ($225/24 months), paramedical coverage, with premiums paid by the employer.
  • Overtime after daily 12-hour limit; shift premiums for evenings, nights, weekends apply as outlined.
  • Personal Emergency Days as per ESA and Collective Agreement.
