Speech Language Pathologist – Cathlic Eduction Centre Peterborough. 35 h / wk, 12 m / y. Internal / External posting. 1 position.

Job Function

To provide assessment, consultative and direct programming for students with speech and language disorders and augmentative / alternative communication needs.

Job Description
  • Assess, establish, coordinate and / or provide individually tailored language programs for students; plan and coordinate implementation of programs to improve speech language and communication abilities.
  • Administer tests and observe students to evaluate speech language and communication abilities.
  • Direct, assist and train Special Education support staff and resource teachers on implementing programs created by SLPs to improve speech language and communication abilities.
  • Provide direct and / or indirect intervention services with individual students and / or groups and follow-up of speech and language programming to be implemented by Special Education Support staff, Special Education teachers, classroom teachers, volunteers and parents.
  • Work with and consult on programs for students with multiple speech and language needs (i.e. Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, developmental delay, Autism Spectrum Disorder).
  • Act as a resource to school administrators in the delivery of speech and language services within each school.
  • Participate in school conferences and meetings; assist in the development and follow-up of IPRC recommendations.
  • Consult with physicians, audiologists, psychologists and other health care professionals to help plan treatment programs.
  • Act as a liaison between outside agencies and school personnel. Work with school personnel to coordinate referrals and services of community partners.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence; maintain professional and statistical reports.
  • Develop and conduct inservice workshops and presentations as required; participate in committees related to Board initiatives / projects.
  • Practice within a self-regulated profession by adhering to and abiding by the Regulated Health Professions Act, the Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology Act and the Rules and Regulations outlined by the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) and maintaining a high standard with respect to Code of Ethics.
Job Requirements
  • Master of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or the equivalent and registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).
  • Three (3) to four (4) years experience administering and interpreting standardized and non-standardized assessment instruments in recommending programs for students with speech-language and / or communication difficulties; and experience working in an educational facility and familiarity with special education procedures.
  • Superior written and verbal skills to work within a multi-disciplinary setting together with excellent presentation skills to provide inservice to staff and others.
  • Consultation with Special Education support staff and community agencies is required.

Rate of Pay :

40.17 $15.26 MV per hour
