Job summary

The City of Port Coquitlam is seeking a Trainee backhoe operator to safely operate and maintain heavy equipment. The successful applicant will receive training and work under supervision to ensure operational objectives are met. Candidates must possess a valid Class 3 Driver's License with Air Endorsement and demonstrate relevant skills in heavy equipment operation.

Job description

The successful applicant for this position will be trained to operate a backhoe. Responsibilities include safe operation, minor maintenance, and routine service of the equipment. Assignments are received from a supervisor, who checks the work during progress and upon completion to ensure objectives are met. The applicant will be responsible to the Foreman, Supervisor, or Charge Hand of the relevant department.

Prequalification requirements according to the Training Manual include:

• Valid Class 3 Driver's License with Air Endorsement

This position will be filled in accordance with Article 10.5 of the Collective Agreement. Please refer to the Class Specification for additional information and requirements.
