Position: Supported Child Development Assistant

Hours: 17.5 hours/week (permanent, part-time)
Salary: $30.75 - $35.29/hour (starting at $30.75)

We are looking for a Supported Child Development Assistant to join our Child Development Services team! Ideally, this individual will have experience working with children and youth with support needs and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Description Of Position
The Supported Child Development (SCD) Assistant is a member of the Child Development Services (CDS) team, providing integrated, multidisciplinary, family centered developmental services and supports to the children and families within the service delivery area.
The SCD Assistant supports children with developmental needs to enhance their access to early intervention and developmentally appropriate materials and strategies within preschool and childcare settings. The SCD Assistant provides individual and/or shared supports for children with support needs within licensed childcare settings.
Reporting to: CDS Team Leader
General Responsibilities
- Supports children with support needs in childcare settings, SCD groups, and capacity building programming offered by the SCD program.
- Utilizes strategies to encourage and support inclusion throughout the childcare setting.
- Collaborates with the CDS team to provide integrated, family centered service delivery.
Program-specific Responsibilities
- Completes monthly SCD reports for each child served.
- Collaborates with SCD Consultants and the staff in childcare settings to assist with the planning and provision of inclusive strategies to support the child within the childcare setting.
- Collaborates with the child’s SCD Consultant and reports progress, concerns, changes, and successes, to support ongoing planning and service provision.

Qualifications
- Holds a diploma in Early Childhood Education or a degree or diploma in a related discipline.
- At least 2 years working with children with support needs in childcare, preschool, or other organized social groups or settings (sports, camps etc.).
- A strong understanding and ability to provide community based, family centered services.
- A clear criminal records check – Mandatory.
