SALARY: $27.91 - $32.81 per hour

POSITION OVERVIEW

We have an exciting opportunity that offers a flexible working schedule on evenings and weekends to support various festivals and events for the City. As a member of our team, the incumbent will be involved in vital tasks, including event set-up and take-down, activity engagement, dynamic program leadership, conducting insightful event evaluations, and ensuring smooth activity operations. In this role, the incumbent serves as a crucial assistant, reporting directly to the Events Coordinator overseeing events and activations within the City of Maple Ridge. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Two years post-secondary education in Parks and Recreation or a related field. Prior experience in a program leader capacity is also preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to communicate effectively with other staff and members of the public both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of the principles of recreation and leisure. Specific knowledge of event implementation and evaluation.

LICENCES AND CERTIFICATES

Class 5 Driver’s License valid in the Province of British Columbia.

HOURS OF WORK

Hours of work are governed by Schedule B (C, J) of the Collective Agreement.

This is an Auxiliary position with no ongoing schedule of hours.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • The ideal candidate will have some experience with events and a background in customer service.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, tow a trailer, and be on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Publisher.
  • Experience in dealing effectively and courteously with staff, community organizations, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining records related to the work.
  • Experience in planning, developing, and scheduling events, services, and activities.
  • Experience in supervising employees/volunteers.
  • First Aid Certification preferred.
