Job description

Job Title : Crisis Secondary - Crisis Support Worker

Status : Temporary Part Time

Work Schedule : Days, Evenings, Weekends - 8 Hour Shifts (Subject to Change)

Wage Schedule : $28.750 - $29.880 per hour

This position is open to all qualified OPSEU staff throughout Lakeridge Health from 17 December 2024 to 24 December 2024.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Work with clients in their home, the community, or in the office, in person and on the phone. Please see the detailed job description for further information.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Diploma or degree from an accredited College or University in a Human Services field.
  • One year related work experience.
  • Valid driver's license and use of a vehicle to transport clients, with proof of license and $2 million liability insurance upon hire.
  • Up-to-date first aid certificate.
  • Knowledge of major mental illnesses, including signs / symptoms, medication management, addictions, and sexual abuse issues.
  • Understanding of Mental Health Act, confidentiality, client-centered relationships, case management, local resources, and access to services.
  • Assessment skills, service plan development, crisis intervention, and coping / stress management strategies.
  • Strong crisis intervention, de-escalation, listening, and observational skills.
  • Ability to engage clients from diverse backgrounds, maintain boundaries, and focus on recovery.
  • Effective team collaboration and independent work skills, with strong time management.
  • Ability to create a safe, comfortable environment for clients.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and good attendance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, professional and positive attitude.
  • Commitment to inclusion, compassion, innovation, teamwork, and joy.
  • Understanding of safety practices and participation in safety training.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :

  • Terms in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.
