Job Title: Sonographer x 2

Status: Regular Full Time

Department: Diagnostic Ultrasound - Oshawa

Program: Diagnostic Imaging Services

Days, Evenings, Weekends, On-call; 8 Hour Shifts (Subject to Change)

Location: Lakeridge Health Oshawa (primary site); Lakeridge Health Bowmanville and Lakeridge Health Port Perry (secondary sites)

Wage Schedule: $36.840 - $51.770 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the general supervision of the Radiologists, Charge Sonographer, Senior Sonographer &/or Manager, the Sonographer utilizes ultrasound equipment to produce high quality sonographic images required to complete the examinations requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Successful completion of a recognized Ultrasound program;
  2. Current registration with the C.M.R.I.T.O. required;
  3. Significant experience in abdominal, OB/GYN, small parts, neuro, and interventional ultrasound procedures;
  4. Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
  5. Proven organizational skills;
  6. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and exercise independent judgement;
  7. Demonstrated ability to assess requests and prioritize them to ensure excellent and prompt patient care;
  8. Proven ability to adapt standard work procedures to emergency situations;
  9. Must be able to be part of the ultrasound standby rotation and respond within the time limit of a call back;
  10. Post graduate experience in a hospital based Ultrasound department preferred;
  11. Physically capable of bending, lifting, turning, transferring patients manually and with mechanical aids;
  12. Must have satisfactory performance record;

  14. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education sessions;
  15. Proven good attendance with capability of maintaining this same standard.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.

Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
