An exciting opportunity has arisen for Optometrists interested in working in the Hospital Eye service environment to join our team of Optometrists working across Lothian. The posts are for permanent full-time Advanced Optometrists; however, applicants wishing part-time or sessional work will be considered.
The Optometry department provides a range of clinical services, including glaucoma clinics (new patient assessment and management of stable and complex patients), corneal clinics, paediatric optometry clinics (including paediatric uveitic clinics), and specialist low vision assessment clinics. We are planning to expand our services into areas such as cataract pre-surgical assessment clinics. Experience in these sub-specialties is desirable but not mandatory, as further training and development can be provided. We are a proactive department with opportunities to develop your clinical skills and knowledge. We support our Optometrists in achieving postgraduate qualifications or equivalent experience to meet the criteria for advanced-level posts and are interested in candidates wishing to further their careers in the Hospital Eye Service.
The post is Lothian-wide, with clinical activity at St John’s Hospital in Livingston, Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion in Edinburgh, and the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People.
The post involves clinics during the day and evenings.
Applications are invited from enthusiastic professional Optometrists to join our multidisciplinary Ophthalmology team.
Informal enquiries and visits are welcome. Please contact Patricia Halpin, Principal Optometrist, at 0131 536 1874 or [emailprotected] .
