A leading educational institution in Toronto seeks an instructor with a PhD to teach a course on large language models and generative AI. Responsibilities include course design, delivery, and supervision of teaching assistants. Ideal candidates will have relevant teaching and industry experience. Description: This course is an intensive, application-driven exploration of large language models (LLMs) and generative AI. Students will gain practical skills for developing, deploying, and integrating LLMs into real-world systems, moving beyond theory to hands-on problem solving and project-based learning. The curriculum covers prompt engineering, advanced usage techniques, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) with vector databases, agentic systems, and state-of-the-art adaptation methods such as parameter-efficient fine-tuning (PEFT). Students will work with industry-standard tools for building, customizing, and evaluating AI-powered applications, including using LLMs for coding, constructing retrieval pipelines, and deploying autonomous agents.
Position Description: All normal duties related to the design, administration and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; supervision of teaching assistants; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and examinations; calculation and submission of grades to university officials; holding regular student office hours and maintaining reasonable availability for student contact.
Qualification: PhD in Operations Management, Management Science, Statistics, or related discipline is required. Previous experience teaching in a similar course is highly desirable. Preference will be given to those with teaching experience and industry experience directly related to the course.
Class Schedule: Courses may be online or in-person, depending on circumstances, so candidates must be available and comfortable with both.
