Job summary

School District No 45 (West Vancouver) seeks an Elementary Counsellor for Chartwell and Westcot Elementary Schools. The position is full-time, with a term through June 30, 2027, beginning November 6, 2026.

The role supports student well-being and learning through coordinated counselling services. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in counselling or equivalent, a valid BC teaching certificate, and recent elementary counselling experience.

Qualifications

• Masters level degree in Counselling Psychology, School Counselling, or equivalent.
• Current and valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate.
• Demonstrated recent experience as an elementary counsellor.
• Knowledge of the Response to Intervention Framework (RTI).
• Experience writing and implementing behavioral plans and IEPs.
• Ability to work with teachers in varied settings.
• Commitment to and experience working collaboratively in teams.
• Experience coordinating services with community agencies and health professionals.

ELEMENTARY COUNSELLOR

Full-time (1.00 FTE) Term position

Chartwell and Westcot Elementary Schools

Effective November 6th, 2026, until June 30, 2027

The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $61,347 to $116,190, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.

This position is replacing an employee on leave.

Required Qualifications And Experience

• A completed Masters level degree in Counselling Psychology, School Counselling, or equivalent
• A current and valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate
• Demonstrated recent experience as an elementary counsellor
• Knowledge of the Response to Intervention Framework
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge with writing and implementing behavioral plans and IEP's
• Ability to work with teachers in a variety of settings
• A commitment to and successful experience working collaboratively in team settings.
• Demonstrated ability and knowledge in working with community agencies and health care professionals to co-ordinate services.
• Behaviour intervention training and/or experience with functional behaviour assessment would be an asset for the successful candidate
